Who’d have thought?
Stock footage usually gets a bad rap. Sometimes rightly so. But there is GREAT stock footage out there. It’s just that it’s all in the eye of the beholder. So we decided to flip that rap and make stock footage the star of an ENTIRE FILM FESTIVAL.
The Adobe Stock Film Festival came about right at the start of the pandemic. Filmmakers literally weren’t able to shoot anything. And we thought it would be a good opportunity to show them how good Adobe Stock actually is.
So we briefed 13 filmmakers from around the world to create a film using just Adobe Stock (and their imaginations). And we convinced Adobe to let the filmmakers do their thing. To just let go. No control.
And honestly, the films were amazing. I never thought I would cry because of stock footage. But Graydon Shepard, one of the filmmakers, changed that.
Here are a few of my favorites.

This was the most creatively ambitious campaign Adobe Stock (and probably any other stock library) has done. And it was the most rewarding, business-wise.
We doubled the benchmark for viewership. Adobe Stock’s brand awareness jumped 50%. And 3000 new creatives purchased and subscribed to Creative Cloud and Adobe Stock.
It’s also cleaning up at the awards. So far it’s won:
YouTube Works 2021
1st place: Brands as Creators category, commending its insightful approach to community engagement.
Shorty Awards 2021
Best Use of Storytelling
Content Marketing of the Year
Silver for Experience/Activation
All because of stock!
